Local MEP says Taoiseach must seek clarity on Irish neutrality during US visit

This has raised concerns about the role of European defence forces in the case of an escalation in the war.

A local MEP is calling for the Taoiseach to establish clarity on Irish neutrality when he visits the United States this month.
It follows the heated exchange between Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday.
During the meeting, President Trump said that if Russia and Ukraine are unable to uphold a ceasefire agreement, Ukraine will have to 'fight it out.'

This has raised concerns about the role of European defence forces in the case of an escalation in the war.
