Local MEP says LEADER funding must be maintained over next decade

Roscommon received €18 million, while Longford and Leitrim LEADER Partnerships have had €15 and 14 million respectively allocated to them.

A local MEP is highlighting the importance of LEADER funding in the Shannonside region. Midlands Northwest MEP Ciaran Mullooly says the supports must be maintained over the next decade. LEADER Programmes support community led projects such as rural tourism, renewable energy projects and social inclusion initiatives. 48 million euro has been allocated to Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon LEADER Partnerships from 2014 through to 2027.

Roscommon has seen over €18 million, while Longford and Leitrim LEADER Partnerships have had €15 and 14 million respectively allocated to them. The fund is part of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy and funded through the EU and Irish Government. Midlands Northwest MEP Ciaran Mullooly says it's vital that the funding remains in place after 2027:
