A local MEP says constituents who have reached out to him from the Middle East are 'desperate' to get home.
It comes as the first government-chartered flight from Oman touched down at Dublin Airport over the weekend with over 190 passengers on board.
The paid-for evacuation charged €800 per adult seat, while under-16s travelled for free.
Midlands North-West MEP Ciaran Mullooly is calling for the government to reimburse Irish citizens for the flight, after it was revealed an EU mechanism - which enables the European Commission to cover up to 75 per cent of the costs - was activated six days after the conflict began.
