Businesses in the Carrick on Shannon area are being warned to check bank notes after a surge in counterfeit cash incidents. Gardaí in Leitrim are investigating a number of incidents where fake notes were tendered to businesses over the last 24 hours.
Staff taking cash from customers are being urged to check notes during transactions and to check cash taken in over the last day. Counterfeit notes should be reported to Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon, while businesses are being urged to be on the look out for suspicious cash transaction requests.
