Local events ongoing across the weekend to celebrate end of Heritage Week

Events are taking place in Granard, Kiltyclogher and Castlecoote.

Several events are being held across the Shannonside region this weekend to mark the end of National Heritage Week 2002.

The week is aimed at highlighting the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage.

Events taking place locally this weekend include an event in Granard to mark the centenary of the death of Michael Collins, and in Kiltyclogher tomorrow morning where people are invited to drop into the local library and ask questions of archaeologist Aidan Harte.
