A Roscommon councillor is urging the government to reintroduce tax breaks for builders, developers and homeowners - like during the Celtic Tiger. Under Section 23, people were given big tax breaks for renovating or buying properties.
The scheme led to new homes being built throughout the Shannonside region, but it was scrapped after the economic crash. But Independent councillor Tom Crosby says it should come back - to ease the housing crisis:
