Local companies set to be hit hard by Trump tariff fallout

The Government says Europe needs to respond calmy and maturely to the US President’s announcement.

A Longford company is in danger of losing out on a half-a-million euro deal to the US because of Donald Trump's tariffs.

Butler Manufacturing Service on the Strokestown Road in Longford is one of those that could be impacted.

Managing director Seamus Butler says they're about to ship their first deal to the US:

The news is a big blow to the Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, which employs 100 people and produces gin, whiskey and vodka.

Over a third of their exports are to the US - and founder Pat Rigney says it will be difficult to maintain that, due to the tariffs:
