Local Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice has withdrawn from the Fianna Fáil selection convention for Roscommon-Galway. It was confirmed earlier that Senator Eugene Murphy, Cllr John Keogh, Dr Martin Daly and Malachy Hand were all nominated alongside Fitzmaurice.
However, the Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council has confirmed this afternoon he will not contest the convention. There are now four candidates left in the race with the selection convention to be held in the Abbey Hotel next Thursday night.
