The culinary sector does not appeal to young people.
That is the view of Alex Fitzmaurice, local chef and leader of the Irish Team in the Culinary Olympics.
The Castlerea native began working in the culinary industry at just 13 years of age at a catering service.
Since then, he has become President of the Panel of Chefs and a mentor for the junior team at the World Championships in Luxembourg.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier this week, Alex Fitzmaurice explained that the Irish culinary industry needs to increase its appeal to the younger generation:
