Local business man raises concerns regarding the increase of thefts in Ireland

Yesterday the CSO released its annual crime figures which showed an increase of 12% in theft offenses.

A local business man has highlighted concerns regarding the increase of thefts in Ireland. Yesterday the CSO released its annual crime figures which showed an increase of 12% in theft offenses. There were 751 recorded incidents of theft from shops in the Shannonside region last year.

396 incidents were reported in the Sligo/Leitrim Garda Division whilst 355 incidents of theft were reported in the Roscommon/Longford division. Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Pat Towey who owns a filling station in Ballaghadereen believes the people who are shoplifting have no fear.
