The Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council says the local authority will repair local roads following the completion of the N5 project.
Shane Tiernan's comments follow concerns raised by residents in towns like Elphin due to construction traffic in the area.
Mr Tiernan says he understands the frustration felt by those living in north Roscommon due to ongoing disruption.
He says it's hoped the project will be completed by the end of next year:
