Hundreds of acres of forestry was ruined in the blaze in Gortaganny and Carrowbehy last month.

The Forestry Minister is ruling out compensating landowners whose forestry was destroyed in the west Roscommon fire.

Minister Michael Healy-Rae met landowners in Dublin this week, as they called for government help.

Some say they've lost their 'pensions' in the blaze - but Minister Healy-Rae is ruling out state compensation.

He has been speaking to our reporter Eoghan Murphy today.
