Longford-Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke raised the case in the Dáil yesterday.

A local man in his 80s was refused humanitarian help after Storm Eowyn - even though he had to throw out everything in his freezer.

Longford-Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke raised the case in the Dáil yesterday.

Several local TDs hit out at the amount of people who were denied the Humanitarian Assistance Payment recently.

Roscommon-Galway TD Martin Daly, from Fianna Fáil, also said lessons need to be learnt from the Storm Eowyn response.
