Just over 1900 (1909) new cars were registered in the Shannonside region last year.
The fewest new cars that rolled off showroom floors was recorded in County Leitrim with just 391 brand new cars taking to the roads.
519 new ‘211’or ‘212’ registered cars were sold in Longford last year and 999 brand new cars were bought in County Roscommon.

It marks a drop of over 22% in new car sales between 2017 and last year locally.
There was also a strong trade in second hand cars according to new figures from the Revenue Commissioners last year with 1881 previously owned vehicles being bought last year in this region.
