Leitrim council to have €7.5m overdraft next year

Leitrim County Council will have an overdraft of €7.5 million next year - an increase of €2.5 million from this year.

Councillors signed off on it at their meeting yesterday, but concern was expressed by Independent councillor Des Guckian.

The council said the increase was not a reflection of its financial standing but was just a contingency.
