A Leitrim councillor says an overcrowded national school in Carrick-on-Shannon is a fire hazard. Scoil Mhuire's pupil numbers have almost doubled over the past 10 years, with around 500 kids currently enrolled.
The school is spread over two campuses, and some classes are held in prefabs and subdivided rooms. Councillor Irene Guckian Rabbitte says the government needs to finally sanction a new school building:
