The outgoing Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council has called for changes in the way the vacant property refurbishment grant is administered. Cllr Paddy O'Rourke says the Croí Cónaithe grant, which helps property owners refurbish vacant properties for housing, is tailor made for the county.
However the Fianna Fáil councillor who steps down as Cathaoirleach next month, wants it to be more accessible for people in Leitrim. He says phased payments would relieve the burden on those seeking to carry out work:
