Leitrim Cathaoirleach says councillors should be paid an extra €12,000 a year

The long-serving councillor is running for the Seanad on the agricultural panel.

The Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council says councillors should be paid an extra 12,000 euro a year. The current annual salary of a councillor is just over 28,000 euro - but Paddy O'Rourke believes it should be around 40,000.
