Leitrim bowed out of the Connacht minor football championship after Galway produced a strong third final quarter to win out 2-17 to 12 points.

Cillian O'Curraoin’s first goal on the first-half water break helped Galway to lead 1-3 to three points, Leitrim found back however with thanks to Gavin Reynolds and Conor Quinn as Leitirm trailed 1-6 to seven points at the break.

Leitrim reduced the deficit to one point before Conal Gallagher’s long-range score restored Galway’s two point advantage.

The tribesmen were reduced to 14-men when Adam Tierney picked up his second yellow card before the second water break, but Leitrim couldn’t make the difference count.

Galway led by four points with six minutes to go as the scoreboard stood at 1-13 to 12 points, but O'Curraoin found time and space to fist in his second goal as Galway progressed to meet Roscommon in the semi-fiaal.
