A Ballinasloe nursing home has been found largely compliant in a number of measures.
HIQA has published the findings of an inspection at Ballinasloe Care Centre, which took place in October last year, the details of which have been published today.
The centre previously had the capacity to provide accommodation for 60 residents.
However, due to refurbishment work required, the occupancy was limited to 21.
Inspectors raised significant concerns over storage arrangements, maintenance of external evacuation routes.
Overall the first floor premises was finished to a high standard with some minor defects.
These included a cover for an en-suite sensor on the first floor hanging down from a ceiling.
At the bottom of two protected staircases, inappropriate storage of building materials and items were observed that compromised the means of escape.
Overall, the premises was designed and laid out to meet the needs of the residents.
It was clean, tidy and well ventilated.
The provider or person in charge has been directed to implement urgent corrective actions at Ballinasloe Care Centre in response to the inspection findings.
