Just two fines were handed out by local authorities in the Shannonside region last year for dog fouling. Data gathered by Vision Ireland show that Roscommon County Council handed two fines out for the offence in 2024 whilst no fines were issued in Longford and Leitrim. Meanwhile, 18 fines were handed out for parking on footpaths in the region last year.
Longford County Council issued 13 fines, there were 5 fines handed out in Leitrim whilst no fines were issued in Roscommon. Longford Cllr Peggy Nolan says it would be rare to see a car parked on a footpath in the town:
