Jury begins deliberations in trial of ex-Roscommon school principal

The trial relates to alleged offences between 2011 and 2017.

The jury in the trial of a former Roscommon school principal has retired to begin its deliberations.

58-year-old Frank chambers, Carnacregg, Moylough, Co Galway has pleaded not guilty to one count of false accounting and 26 counts of theft in connection with a school canteen.

The former principal of Roscommon Community College has been on trial since last week for the alleged offences which occurred between 2011 and 2017.

The jury was previously ordered to find him not guilty on seven charges of false accounting on the direction of Judge Francis Comerford.
