Junior Minister insists road safety strategy remains on track

Seán Canney says suggestions the plan has been diluted or abandoned are simply incorrect.

The Junior Minister for Road Safety says there is no softening of the road safety strategy.

It's after reports there will be a delay in reducing speed limits on national roads until next year.

Seán Canney says suggestions the plan has been diluted or abandoned are simply incorrect.

He says the default speed limit on rural local roads has already been reduced to 60km/h on around 80 per cent of all roads.

He says there is no backpedalling on 30km per hour urban limits.
