A Roscommon councillor says isolation has become a chronic problem in rural Ireland.
Independent councillor Anthony Waldron brought forward a motion at yesterday's Roscommon County Council meeting.
It was agreed at the meeting to write to the incoming Minister for Health regarding a national initiative to address the issue of isolation and loneliness.
