The number of bursts and water outages in the Athlone area are being reduced, and up to 5 million litres of water a day are being saved.
That's according to Irish Water which is reporting the completion of two further upgrade projects in the Arcadia and Coosan areas.
The most recent works involved the replacement of over 1 kilometre of old water mains, some of which had become badly corroded, affecting water quality.

Matt Thompson from Irish Water says they acknowledge the co-operation and patience of local residents and businesses while these vital water network improvements continue.
