A local Minister of State has welcomed significant funding of Ireland West Airport. Minister for Further Education Marian Harkin says a major boost to regional development. The Sligo-Leitrim TD was speaking after the airport was awarded €1.9 million in Government funding. It's part of an overall package of €4 million announced today by the Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien. It's expected the funding will go towards vital safety and security operations at the airport.
