An investigation has been launched into an alleged assault which saw a man hospitalised in Athlone.
The alleged incident happened outside the town's Garda station located on Barrack Street last Friday night.
A man in his 20s was brought to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore, where he was treated for his injuries and kept overnight before being discharged.

Gardai are aware of a suspect, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
Anyone who was in the Pearse Street/Barrack Street area between 9.30pm and 10pm last Friday and may have information are being asked to contact Athlone Garda Station.
