Musical instruments like guitars, fiddles and banjos could be available to rent in Leitrim libraries, under proposals to be discussed next week.
Sinn Féin's Brendan Barry also wants the libraries to have sensory and educational toys for children.
He has also called on puzzles and jigsaws to be introduced.
He says that musical instruments could be a starting point for the idea.
Councillor Barry says his proposed scheme could save lots of money for families.
