Nearly 80 people waiting on hospital beds in Shannonside region

There are nearly 80 people waiting on beds in hospitals used by residents of the Shannonside region.

That's according to the latest figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

The report says there are 79 waiting on beds between in local hospitals this morning.

These include Sligo University Hospital, University Hospital Galway, Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, and Portiuncula Hospital.

There are 458 admitted patients waiting for beds in the country.

312 of those are waiting in the emergency department, while 146 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
