The public meeting took place following confirmation that planned modular housing for Ukrainian refugees would now not go ahead at a site in Ballaghaderreen.

Ballaghaderreen Concerned Citizens group has criticised local politicians for failing to attend a public meeting in the town last night. The group had organised the meeting to discuss the need for extra services in the west Roscommon town. The public meeting took place following confirmation that planned modular housing for Ukrainian refugees would now not go ahead at a site in Ballaghaderreen.

Group organiser Sharon Murphy said a committee has now been formed with a view to addressing long-standing issues in the area. Speaking to Shannonside News, she expressed her disappointment at the absence of local public representatives at last night's meeting:
