Government looking to make changes to State pension in Budget 2022

The budget will be announced in just under four weeks' time.

The government is looking to make a number of changes to the State pension in the upcoming budget.

Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys says an increase on the 248 euro payment is one of her priorities.

Age Action are calling on a 15 euro a week increase in the allowance next month.

The Government’s indicated there WILL be tax cuts in the Budget despite calls to abandon them.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions says the Coalition shouldn’t go back to the old ‘low tax and low spend model’ over the next four years.

It feels Budget 2022 should focus on childcare, education, health and housing.
