A county Mayo centre for people with disabilities, which accomodates those from county Roscommon has received a glowing report from the health watchdog.
An unannounced inspection by HIQA has found that Willow Lodge Respite Care Service is delivering good-quality, person-centred care.
Willow Lodge provides a respite service for up-to-three residents with physical and learning disabilities.
Respite care is offered on a planned basis and emergency respite can be offered following an initial assessment of need as detailed in the centre's statement of purpose.
The inspection, carried out on 11 September 2025, reviewed governance, safeguarding, and residents' overall experience during short-term stays.
Inspectors observed a warm and supportive environment where residents were encouraged to make choices about activities and daily routines.
Staff were found to be appropriately trained, with effective systems in place to manage risk and protect residents.
HIQA reported compliance across the key regulations examined during the visit.
Overall, the service was deemed to be well-managed and focused on promoting residents' dignity, safety and well-being.
