Gardaí investigating the theft of a vehicle in a local town

The man has been described as middle-aged of strong build with dark hair.

Gardaí in Roscommon are continuing to investigate the theft of a vehicle on the Williamstown Road in Castlerea yesterday evening. A woman in her 70s suffered injuries during the course of the incident and had to be taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment. The incident occurred when the woman was flagged down by a man as she was attempting to leave the Lidl car park in the town. It is believed the woman was dragged along by the car at speed and suffered a number of injuries.

The man has been described as middle-aged of strong build with dark hair. He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and brown shoes. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Castlerea Garda Station on 094 9620019. Speaking to Shannonside News, local Fianna Fáil Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice expressed his shock at the incident:
