Gardaí arrested a man following two robberies at business premises in Mullingar.
Gardaí were alerted to a robbery on Castle Street at approximately 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon.
During the course of the incident a male suspect threatened staff with an implement, but no items were taken.
A second report of robbery was received by Gardaí a short time later at a business premises on Canal Court.
The male suspect assaulted a member of staff and damaged property on the premises, while a sum of cash was also stolen.
A man in his 30s was arrested in relation to the incidents, and he is currently detained at a Garda station in Co. Westmeath under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The stolen cash was recovered by Gardaí.
