A Roscommon councillor has once again called for the reopening of Castlerea Fire Station. Independent councillor Anthony Waldron has vowed to keep fighting for the reinstatement of the service which closed in 2017. Cllr Waldron was speaking following the recent Roscommon County Council budget meeting for 2024.
Members were told the local authority had not budgeted for the reopening of Castlerea Fire Station. Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr Waldron said reopening the station was a critical issue:
