Funeral of pensioner who died in Longford crash hears he was a 'happy and joyful man'

John's family members also dedicated a prayer to the staff of Beaumont Hospital, for the 'loving care and compassion' shown to him and his family at the time of his death.

A pensioner who died after a crash in Longford Town has been remembered at his funeral mass as a 'happy and joyful' man.
Strokestown man John Ross died at the age of 85, after he was struck by a car on Earl Street last Tuesday.
He is currently being buried in Strokestown Cemetery.

His funeral mass heard John was a 'fun, mischievous' man who 'always had a story to tell.'
John received his education in St. Mel's in Longford, and later moved to Strokestown where he lived with his wife Agnes for the past forty years.
John's family members also dedicated a prayer to the staff of Beaumont Hospital, for the 'loving care and compassion' shown to him and his family at the time of his death.
Father Eamonn O'Connor celebrated the mass and paid tribute:
