Fundraising appeal raises over €3k for much-loved Mohill man's funeral

Tegan Egan, a friend of David's partner, has set up a GoFundMe appeal.

Almost €3,300 has been raised through a fundraising campaign to cover the funeral expenses of much-loved Mohill resident David O'Callaghan, whose body was found in Boyle yesterday.

The 21-year-old Dublin native vanished from the car park of St Joseph's Church in Boyle last Saturday and his body was recovered nearby almost four days later, after a massive search.

Tegan Egan, a friend of David's partner, has set up a GoFundMe appeal.

It reads: "David was one of those rare people who could light up any room — quick with a joke, ready to listen, and always there when you needed him (or when he needed to borrow a tenner).

"I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of giving David the farewell he truly deserves. Funeral expenses can be a huge burden on the family, and this will help ease that strain for them so they can focus on celebrating his life.

"Any donations beyond the funeral costs will go to a mental health charity."
