Former Leitrim councillor Des Guckian has died following an illness. He passed away peacefully this morning. Des Guckian was first elected in 2014 and served on Leitrim County Council as an Independent up until earlier this year.
The Annaduff man resigned in April on health grounds following 11 years as an elected representative. His daughter Irene Guckian Rabbitte was co-opted onto the council earlier this month to replace him. Mr Guckian had been ill for a number of months. He passed away peacefully this morning.
