Carrick-on-Shannon farmer Michael McManus is running for the Farmers Alliance in the local elections.
The 56-year-old is one of around 15 candidates running for the grass-roots organisation in June.
He is aiming to win a seat on Leitrim County Council in the Carrick area, which also includes areas like Mohill.

Mr McManus says he has plenty of experience in helping farmers.
