The EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan is to resign tonight.
A spokesperson for the under pressure Kilkenny man has confirmed the news.
The former TD has been in the spotlight since attending a golf function in Clifden last week.

Earlier this week the government had expressed criticism of Mr Hogan after he gave an account of his movements in the days before attending the event.
