The European Commission have come under fire for their approach to South American beef.
In December, it emerged that consignments of frozen Brazilian beef products contained a banned hormone.
While at the start of January, the Department of Agriculture confirmed that 128kg of implicated beef was distributed to three food businesses in Ireland.
Two European Commissioners are in Dublin this week for meetings with government ministers and have appeared at the Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs.
