Roscommon councillors have given the go ahead for the conversion of an historic building into a community facility. The proposal was brought forward by Fianna Fáil councillor Larry Brennan at a special meeting of Roscommon Municipal District. The local authority is now looking for €7 million in town centre heritage funding to transform the 325-year-old Edenville House site.
It's proposed that funding from the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme would be used to develop the project. If successful, it's hoped it would be completed by early 2028. Cllr Marty McDermott, who seconded the proposal, says Edenville House could become the jewel in the county town's crown:
