Dismay over fossil gas bill

Shannon LNG was denied planning permission in 2023 on the basis of the ban.

A Bill being put forward on fossil gas infrastructure is being criticised.

Friends of the Irish Environment says accelerating LNG does not protect the country from geopolitical instability, price shocks or supply disruption.

County Leitrim led the way to ban fracking in 2017 and its felt any move to introduce fracked gas through LNG would be a step backwards for climate action in the county.
