A new reconstitution scheme looks set to grant local owners to replant damaged areas.
Minister for Forestry, Michael Healy-Rae has confirmed that up to €55m will be available to private forestry owners affected by Storms Darragh and Éowyn through the financial aid scheme.
While under new setback rules, any existing unplanted setback of up to 60 metres from nearby dwellings-including houses located across a public road-must remain unplanted at the reforestation stage.
Where the previous setback is less than 30 metres, a new 30-metre unplanted buffer must now be installed during replanting.
