One of Des Guckian's daughters is set to take over his seat on Leitrim County Council from next week.
The Annaduff man resigned last month on health grounds after 11 years as a local representative.
He has nominated his daughter Irene Guckian Rabbitte to take over - and she will be formally ratified at next Tuesday's council meeting.
