There has been a substantial decrease in new electric car registrations in the Shannonside region so far this year. The figures have been released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. There has been over 100 new electric car registrations in the region so far in 2024.
Roscommon has seen the highest amount of registrations locally with 52, however that number is down over 26% on the same time last year. Meanwhile, Longford and Leitrim have also seen substantial decreases with electric car registrations down by 24% in both counties. Nationally, new Electric Vehicles sales are down 19% compared to the same time last year.
