Decision on major development at Lough Key due this week

A decision on the large scale development was due in March, however Roscommon County Council sought further information on the project.

A decision on plans for a major redevelopment of Lough Key Forest and Activity Park is due this week. Coillte's proposal includes upgrades to the visitor centre, new activity hubs, enhanced outdoor attractions and new aqua park facility. A decision on the large scale development was due in March, however Roscommon County Council sought further information on the project. The original application includes improvements to camping, with 20 new glamping pods and improved car park facilities set to be developed.

New activities would also be provided at the popular tourist attraction if the application receives the green light. The activities include wall climbing, mini golf and mini junior karting. Roscommon County Planners sought further information from Coillte in relation to the impact on Traffic and Nature Conservation. A decision on the proposed development is due tomorrow.
