The health watchdog has identified a number of compliance issues at a county Roscommon nursing home.
HIQA has published the findings of an inspection at Sonas Nursing Home, Innis Ree which took place in December last year, the details of which have been published today.
It is a purpose-built centre for older people that accommodates 58 residents.
The centre provides care for male and female residents requiring long-term, respite, convalescent and dementia care.
Significant improvements were still required in several areas of the centre's operations.
The inspection found shortcomings in infection prevention and control procedures.
Issues identified included aspects of cleaning oversight, storage arrangements and measures aimed at reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
Despite the concerns, residents told inspectors they felt safe and well cared for.
One resident described staff as "kind and caring", while another said staff were "terrific".
Visitors also praised employees for their professionalism and attentiveness.
