Cuts to fuel excise duties extended

Motorists will get the benefit of cuts to excise duties on fuel for another month.

But opposition parties say simply postponing the increase in taxes isn’t good enough.

Following calls for clarity on the future of fuel supports due to expire at the end of next month, the government has announced an extension until the 1st of September.

It means the reduction of 32 cent to a litre of diesel and 27 cent to a litre of petrol will continue for the time being - but the usual tax will be gradually reapplied in last four months of the year.
