Independent councillor Tom Crosby says he doesn't believe Eugene Murphy should replace Anthony Waldron on Roscommon County Council. Councillor Waldron died suddenly nearly two months ago at his Ballintubber home, and his seat has been vacant since then. Ballintubber's Gail Murray and former politician Eugene Murphy, from Scramogue, are both interested in replacing him. Roscommon councillors will ultimately decide - and Councillor Crosby has expressed his preference:

Murphy lives in the Boyle Local Electoral Area - not Roscommon, where Waldron lived. Councillor Crosby says he feels Gail Murray would be a more suitable candidate:
